My type of bride…
Payton stuck out to me from the beginning. During our first phone call, I heard her wrangling her 2 year old daughter in the background all while somehow maintaining conversation with me as we chatted about what she envisioned for her and Harrison’s wedding. All she truly cared about was the fact that she was finally going to marry the love of her life and father of their beautiful daughter, Ellie.
On the day before the rehearsal, we did a venue walkthrough together at the most incredible venue, Orion’s Schoolhouse and Chapel located in Jefferson, NC. The chapel has probably hosted thousands of weddings over the 110 years it’s been in existence. Then we toured the schoolhouse just hundred yards away which dates back to 1860. There are still carvings on the wall from the schoolchildren who used to attend this old historic school hundreds of years ago.
She asked me where she should go to get her nails done in Jefferson and I couldn’t help but giggle because…there is NO place to get your nails done in Jefferson. So she simply shrugged her shoulders and settled for stick-on nails from Walmart…and that was when I knew I loved this gal. She was so laid back and truly valued what was important…getting married.
On the day of the wedding, I heard her in the bathroom laughing with her bridesmaids as she got dressed in her wedding gown as I was setting up the reception area. When she walked out of that bathroom, I literally gasped. She made the most STUNNING bride. She was glowing and radiant and absolutely beautiful.
The chaos of the day didn’t phase her and Harrison at all. They relished in every moment of their wedding day as they celebrated their union alongside their daughter and all of their friends and family. The atmosphere the wedding guests brought with them was nothing but jubilation and celebration. I felt honored to be a part of it all.
After the ceremony, we immediately transitioned into their First Dance which was short and sweet as the bride wasn’t the biggest fan of PDA which I TOTALLY relate to. We cracked up as we talked about how physical touch is NOT our love language and you would never catch us being the first one to initiate a hug. But we were both in agreeance that we loved to receive them.
The evening continued and the beer, wine, and blackberry white claws were flowing. We danced, we laughed, some cried…and so many good times were had.
I enjoyed this group for so many reasons but I think what I loved about them the most was all they cared about was at the end of the day…they got to marry each other. Even though the marriage certificate says otherwise (whoops…we forgot to get it signed haha).
I truly LOVE what I do and it seems that after every wedding, I am only more motivated to bring these experiences to the couples that I work with. And by the end of working alongside them, they aren’t just clients to me anymore. I mean…how can they be?! I just spent one of the most important days of their lives with them! I can easily say each couple I work with will always have special place in my heart. And I treasure every wedding I get to witness and be a part of. And I am happy to report that at the end of the day…Payton and I hugged each other. Which says a LOT about us! I loved this wedding, and I loved this couple.
