They found love at Dairy Queen
Gosh I loved everything about Bailey and Phillip. I could tell right off the bat that I was going to like working with these two. They constantly had me giggling and I loved how much fun they had together. I could tell their love was so genuine for each other. They met in high school when they worked at Dairy Queen together, I mean….common. How cute is that?!
We were all slightly concerned about the weather on the morning of their big day. Spring time can be so unpredictable in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It could rain, snow, storm, hail, but the wind was our main worry. The weather at the wedding Sky Retreat had hosted the day before nearly blew everyone off the mountain, it was that bad. But we scored the most beautiful spring day. Sunny, no wind, 65 degrees, it couldn’t have been any better.
I get exposed to a lot of different family & friend dynamics but Bailey and Phillip’s really stuck out to me. Not in a bad way, but in the BEST way. Everyone was radiating this loving and exciting energy, you can tell they were all so happy to be there. This has been a long time coming and they were so ready to celebrate this incredible couple.
I could tell immediately that Bailey and Phillip were surrounded by some amazing friends and family. I told them that they had the best inner circle - to have this group of people’s love and support, to have them rooting and cheering them on from the sidelines throughout the entirety of their relationship, they are so lucky. They really have something special, and I loved being a witness to it all.
The one thing I always whisper to my brides right before they walk down the aisle is “This is it, try and be so present in this moment. You only experience this once and it’s truly magical.” And then I try and remember to fluff their dress on their way down the aisle.
The wind held off for the entirety of the wedding ceremony (thank GOD!). The backdrop was perfect, and so was their service. It was absolutely stunning and I couldn’t get over how amazing the bridesmaids dresses blended in with the blue ridge mountains in the background.
and then it was time to PARTY! And let me tell you, DJ Trevor Owens is the absolute best hype man. This wedding reception had the BEST vibes, I genuinely had so much fun celebrating with everyone. I was also blown away by the level of service our caterer provided. It was Los Express Taco Y Mas’s first catering gig and they absolutely nailed it. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who is looking to serve authentic Mexican food at their wedding. Seriously…10/10.
I know I have shared this before, but it takes a decent amount to make me cry. I don’t typically get caught up in the emotions of a wedding day since there is SO much I am managing in the background and behind the scenes. My mind is literally the meme of the lady doing mathematic equations in her head! But when Phillip and Bailey did a surprise dance with her Mom, I lost it! Not a dry eye in the room, it was literally the sweetest moment ever and she was so surprised!
Another thing I do throughout the evening is constantly check in on my couples. I bring them their favorite drink when they are almost done with their other one, I make sure they are drinking water and eating enough, and I always make sure they are still wanting to do send-off at their designated time. 90% of my couples always want to tap out early since wedding days are absolutely exhausting and a lot of people don’t stay all the way until send-off, especially if it’s scheduled for 10:30PM.
But not this crowd, everyone stayed until the very last minute which I absolutely LOVED! Everyone was having way too much fun to end the night early, so we stayed until the bell and no one had any regrets. It’s a wedding I for sure will never forget.
