Rain or Shine?
All day we would pull up the weather radar and debate on if we should set up cocktail hour and the ceremony outside. It seemed like ominous clouds were surrounding us on all sides but for whatever reason, White Crow’s little mountain top remained in the sunshine all day. I told Jenny that I have a winning streak for good weather to follow me event when the weather forecast states otherwise.
Finally, an hour before the ceremony began, we decided to push our luck and assume the sunshine was going to continue to follow us, which I am happy to report it did! Which made for a pretty incredible backdrop. The sky and the mountains put on a show for us during the ceremony and cocktail hour all while we all remained happily dry and in awe of the beauty that surrounded us.
Jenny was the bride with the vision, her eye for design absolutely shined through once the entire wedding setup came together. Bushel and a Peck’s lounge area was all handpicked by Jenny. She came up with the idea of a champaign wall for when people first entered the reception area, and the string of greenery and twinkle lights (Also Jenny’s idea) added so much magic to the venue.
Their bridal party was an absolute blast to work with and really were Jenny and Joe’s most incredible hype crew. From planning the best introduction a reception has ever seen (complete with bubble guns and a dance party that had everyone on their feet) to sweet little surprised throughout the day. Joe and Jenny has some incredible people in their lives, and I loved being able to see everyone have such a genuinely good time together.
But the real star of the show was Joe and Jenny’s first dance. Holy cow I will remember this moment for the rest of my life…seriously. They had been rehearsing their dance to “Rewrite the Stars” from the Greatest Showman for the last 6 months leading up to their big day. I saw them rehearsing a few moves before I had them enter the dancefloor and was quite literally floored once they began their performance.
It had me in tears by the end of the dance, the grand finale of their performance was complete with fireworks and sparklers. Everyone was screaming by the end, absolutely in awe of the show Jenny and Joe had put on for us. And thank the Lord that Jenny had packed a back-up reception dress because there was NO WAY she was going to be able to do all of that spinning, jumping, and twirling in her wedding dress.
Every single vendor that was involved in their wedding day absolutely nailed it. Earthworks provided a GORGOUS spread during cocktail hour and every single thing their team prepared for dinner was exceptional. His team went above and beyond. Layers of Love baked the most stunning cake, and Wild Sweet Williams killed it in the florals department. I loved working alongside every single one of them, not to mention all the images posted here captured by the talented Whitney Olson with Olson Design Photography.
We also had “Brew-Lala”, a coffee truck based in Charlotte, come all the way out to Banner Elk for this wedding which was a WIN for everyone. Caffeine should almost be a requirement to be served at a wedding just as much the champaign! They were whipping up lattes, americano’s, cappuccinos, expresso shots, anything you needed in order to keep up with Joe and Jenny’s wedding festivities.
At the end of the night, we had DJ Karl with “Mohr Fun Events” lead us in a grand sparkler send-off at the end of the night with Air Haven providing the infamous “Excalibur” as Joe and Jenny’s getaway car. It was the perfect way to wrap up the evenings celebrations.
I absolutely enjoyed every moment of this wedding, especially working with this sweet couple who are SO much in love. Their relationship was the star of the show, the connection that they have with each other is obvious to those who get to witness them interact with each other. It truly was an honor to play a part in such a joyous occasion to be able to assist in helping their wedding dreams come true. Congrats you two love birds!!!
