A Hallmark Christmas Wedding

I have ALWAYS wanted to do a magical winter wedding and when Jordan and David approached me for my Partial Planning services, I was ALL in. I was basically drooling over their Christmas mood board and was so excited to get the ball rolling with them about a year out from their big day.

This vision was “A Hallmark Christmas” complete with a hot chocolate bar, lots of blankets, ugly Christmas sweaters, candy canes, mistletoe, and Christmas trees with colorful string lights EVERYWHERE. Bonus points if we had a light dusting of snow. I was so incredibly proud of how the day turned out and even had some frosty white peaks surrounding us at the White Crow. It couldn’t have been any more perfect.

Jordan attended App State and lived in the High Country for a chapter of her life and really wanted to support local as much as she could as well as incorporate some of her favorites into her and David’s wedding day. They got all of their trees from a local Christmas tree farm, we have Appalachian Cookie Company supply all of our wedding favors, and Peabody’s supplied the beer who also partnered with Happy Trailers and Appalachian Mountain Brewery (one of Jordan’s favorite local hangs in Boone).

Every detail was thought out and added so much to the wedding guest experience. Everyone bundles up for a chilly outdoor ceremony and then everyone transitioned inside for cocktail hour and warmed up at the hot chocolate and apple cider station. Gadabouts supplied one of the most beautiful charcuteries spreads I’ve seen so far.

Jordan and David are slightly obsessed with Christmas as you may have guessed, which was the whole reason why they wanted a December wedding. They brought me several bins of their personal Christmas decorations, and I put it all to good use. It added so much to the magical winter atmosphere and made it all the more special.

Dinner was incredible thanks to Gadabouts Catering. The food was delicious and the food stations were impressive to say the least. Everyone enjoyed their dinner as we got to enjoy a beautiful winter sunset.

Once the dancefloor opened, Ultimate Sound DJ blasted some of our couples’ favorite tunes as well as threw in a couple of Christmas carols into the mix. We all changed into our ugly Christmas sweaters and danced the night away.

Bailey Batten was our incredibly gifted photographer who captured the day so beautifully. No detail snuck by her, she caught it all on camera and documented the day so well. I absolutely love working with her and can’t get over her level of professionalism and talent! So much so, she will be taking our maternity photos next weekend and I couldn’t be more excited!

Winter weddings in the High Country are always a bit of a gamble; you truly never know what you’re going to get. Especially in early December, you could get a 65-degree sunny day, or you could get hit with a blizzard. The day before the wedding, the roads were slick with ice and there was definitely a level of nervousness regarding how the next day would play out. But I assured them that by time our guests will be making their way to the venue, the roads will be crystal clear, and we should be expecting a perfect winter day.

I don’t typically say “I do” to a ton of winter weddings since I live ALL the way on top of a mountain where I literally need chains at times if the roads are covered. But this wedding was SO worth it, not just because of how amazing the day turned out to be but also because Jordan and David were incredible to work with. I genuinely loved spending the last year planning and hashing out details with them and I truly miss working alongside them. But I am SO happy that they got the wedding of their dreams and it most definitely makes me want to say yes to more winter weddings. ;)
