Truly the sweetest bride…
Never have I ever had a bride ask me if she could get me anything WHILE sitting in the makeup chair getting her hair done. This perfectly describes what it was like working with this sweet couple, literally the most caring and loving bride I have ever had the privilege to work with. Her heart and her capacity to love was SO big and I can tell these two love birds will live a long life as a happily married couple. Some of the sweetest gems I have ever met.
Similar to so many other wedding days, the day started off with us meticulously checking the weather radar. This time of year, we have afternoon thunderstorms that roll through these mountains almost daily but then after about a 30-minute torrential downpour, there are sunshine, rainbows, and the birds can be heard happily celebrating the beautiful weather once again.
That is exactly what we got for this couple’s big day! Waiting until the last possible second to set up the ceremony and cocktail hour so that we can get the rain out of the way just in time for the ceremony to start. 10 minutes before guests were to sit down, we were frantically wiping off all the rain off the chairs and just like that, we had a stunning ceremony in the garden with the sun shining down on us.
This day went by SO smoothly and I can’t help but to thank the other vendors for their level of professionalism, preparedness, and talent. I know I sound like a broken record at this point but truly every single vendor in the High Country has been absolutely incredible to work alongside. It takes a village to make a wedding day go by seamlessly and it seems like I always have the BEST team to back me and my couples up.
Especially my assistant, Emma. She and I have such an incredible working relationship. I first met her when she was 17 years old and we were working at the Greenhouse together. I was blown away by her work ethic and how likable she was as a person. Watching her grow into the young woman she is now these last few years has been such a joy and seeing her gain more and more confidence with every wedding we work together has been one of the highlights of my business.
It has really motivated me into helping others who have an interest in this career. For those who might want to dip their toes in the wedding industry and see if they like it. To be able to give them the opportunity to experience it all alongside myself. Maybe by the end of the day, they might be able to see if there is a possible future in wedding planning for themselves! So, who knows…maybe the Wooded Wilds team may see some fresh faces this next year for the 2026 season! ;)
Back to this incredible July wedding, the little details throughout their big day created so many memories for everyone to treasure. From their live painter (shoutout to the extremely talented Emily with Dolce Art Studios who captured their day on canvas SO perfectly) to the wild blackberry honey wedding favors provided by some incredible locals (Greene’s Trading Post). There were so many sweet moments and treats sprinkled throughout their wedding day, and I couldn’t help but think of how much their big day reflected this sweet, sweet couples’ relationship and their personalities.
You would also have never guessed the fact that the Groom had spent the entire day at the Emergency Room the day before their rehearsal dinner while battling passing a kidney stone. I am happy to report he fully recovered and by the time rehearsal dinner began, you would have never guessed he had spent the previous day doubled over in pain, nearly on his deathbed! We were just SO grateful it happened then and not the day of the wedding. Could you imagine?!
The night wrapped up with a bubble send-off which then led to a drunken clean-up party that was very fun to navigate haha! I love watching drunk wedding guests try to rally themselves so they can assist with the cleanup process at the end of the night. They try so very hard to be useful, so I typically give them the easy jobs like “blow out all the candles”, if they can manage that.
We had two guests who lost their keys, one which we found on top of my assistant’s car (how on earth it ended up there, I have NO idea hahaha). And one of the aunts had lost a very special earring which I am happy to report was later found…in her bra. There were so many moments throughout this day that had me giggling. All in all, we were so pleased by how the day went. We genuinely had so much fun working this wedding and at the end of the night, all the vendors and I had discussed how loved and appreciated we felt by our sweet couple. Maggie and Chase will have a lasting impression on all of us, and I can’t thank them enough for how amazing it was to work alongside them.
