I always tell my couples that it’s completely normal to feel stressed, anxious, nervous, overwhelmed, on top of the joy and excitement in the days and hours leading up to their wedding day! I mean you are human after all and considering the fact that it is one of the most important days of your life, it’s completely normal to find yourself semi-hyperventilating in the bridal suite minute before you walk down the aisle.
But what’s also important is to try and be SO present in this moment. You get to experience the next 30 minutes one time in your life, soak in every blissful second. I remind my couples of this every time they are about to take their first steps while walking down the aisle. It was no different on Katherine and Thomas’ wedding day.
Gosh I LOVED revisiting this day while scrolling through Bethany Barton’s photo gallery of this beautiful wedding day. I remember the energy, the positivity, and the nervousness of our sweet bride and groom in the moments leading up to the ceremony. If I remember correctly, I had to open up a window and bring in a fan for our bride while she was deep breathing in the bridal suite as I was getting all of our wedding guests seated in the ceremony area.
I always ensure my couples that I’ve got this; everything will be taken care of. Your job is to focus on celebrating with your loved ones and simply enjoy yourself with your new spouse! And that’s exactly the pep talk I gave to Thomas and Katherine. My absolute favorite couples are the ones who prioritize the fact that they are moments away from marrying the love of their life. Everything else around them is just adding to that experience. The flowers, the drinks, the music, it all comes secondary. The primary focus is saying “I DO!”.
It can feel like you are being pulled in a million different directions after the ceremony concludes. From pictures to greeting guests to catching up with long distant relatives to going from your first dance to trying to eat dinner and then golden hour photos and then toasts followed up with a cake cutting. It can feel like A LOT. But in those moments before the ceremony, this is the time to be still, soak in this one “slow” moment, and go marry your person.
Katherine and Thomas’ wedding day was truly picture perfect. We had literally the most amazing weather, the vendors were incredible to work with, and the day went on without a single hiccup. This is why working alongside a team of professionals makes everyone’s job SO enjoyable. DJ Pete Welter took it away on the dancefloor, Stonewalls curated the most delicious dinner, Sifted Sugar created an incredible Lord of the Rings themed cake, and Bethany Barton captured it all beautifully behind a camera.
I also have to say, Latin American weddings are hands-down the MOST fun weddings to attend. The energy on the dancefloor is next level, and the music is my favorite to work to while I slowly start cleaning up behind the scenes. DJ Pete Welter did an incredible job with bringing their taste of music into one of the most fun receptions I’ve gotten to witness in my wedding planning career so far.
The love that these two had for each other was contagious and everyone who knew them were so happy to see these two finally say “I do” to each other after years of being together. I loved how there were so many elements that displayed the quirkiness of their relationship. From “the Hobbit” themed wedding cake, to the Pokémon platter they used to serve the macaroons on the dessert table, to having their doggos be the most perfect little ring bearers during the wedding ceremony. Their big day reflected them and who they were as a couple seamlessly.
I could also tell they have such an amazing support system in their lives. Their friends and family had the best time celebrating their love and I can tell they have got such a solid inner circle surrounding them. It’s that type of love and support that creates a level of happiness that will be felt forever in this sweet couple’s marriage.
